Brushing and Flossing:
Proper brushing and flossing are very important while in orthodontic treatment to prevent the development of permanent white marks, cavities, and gum disease.
Braces do NOT cause decay, but may make some areas in your mouth harder to clean.  Remember, poor oral hygiene can permanently harm your teeth and gums.
Regular Dental Cleanings:
While in orthodontic treatment, it is necessary for you to continue to visit your general dentist for regular dental cleanings and checkups, at least every 4 months.  If you have previously seen a periodontist, please continue care with this specialist at least every 4 months, unless otherwise directed by the periodontist.
